We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecologist to join our team at Bouygues UK. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our construction projects have a positive impact on the environment.

About the Role

As an Ecologist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and support on ecological requirements to our operational teams. You will develop and implement ecological management plans, build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients, and internal stakeholders, and ensure site compliance with ecological legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offering pragmatic advice and support on ecological requirements to operational teams
  • Developing and implementing ecological management plans
  • Building and maintaining relationships with regulators, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring site compliance with ecological legislation
  • Maintaining the company environmental management system
  • Investigating and reporting ecological incidents
  • Conducting habitat suitability assessments and protected species surveys
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of ecological management, mitigation, and legislation relevant to development
  • Educated to degree or Masters level in Ecology or a related subject
  • Good level of commercial awareness and understanding of environmental management for construction sites
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Active membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  • Full UK driver's license and willingness to travel
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure construction projects
Desirable Qualities and Experience
  • Holding at least one protected species survey licence
