What Skills and Experience We're Looking For

AllLearning Assistants, working under an agreed system of supervision ormanagement, support access to learning for pupils. They also provide generalsupport to the teacher in the management of the pupils and the classroom.

SUPPORT FOR PUPILS
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access tolearning
  • Establish good relationship with pupils, acting as a role modeland being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activitiesled by the teacher
SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHER
  • Work with theteacher to establish an appropriate learning environment
  • Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils' achievement,progress, problems etc.
  • Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict andincidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to takeresponsibility for their own behaviour
  • Provideclerical/administrative support e.g photocopying, typing, filing, collectingmoney etc.
SUPPORT FOR THE CURRICULUM
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT as directed
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by theteacher and assist pupils in their use
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out ofschool activities as required and take responsibility for a group under thesupervision of the teacher
SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating tochild protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and dataprotection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils haveequal access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
  • Attend relevant meetings as required
  • Participate in training andother learning activities and performance development as required
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out ofschool activities as required
