Chief Officer of Integrated Care
NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board is recognized as one of the largest and most intricate Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) in England, dedicated to fostering an environment where all individuals can thrive throughout their lives in a sustainable and equitable city-region.
This role is a vital component of the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, which consists of 12 distinct organizations collaborating to promote cohesive efforts aimed at assisting individuals in leading independent, active, and healthy lives, while simultaneously enhancing the efficiency of the system for both the public and the professionals involved.
As a member of the unitary board, each director shares the responsibility for strategizing and distributing resources to fulfill the four fundamental objectives of integrated care systems (ICSs):
- Support the NHS in broader social and economic development.
- Manage the budget of GM Integrated Care effectively.
- Establish a positive tone for NHS GM, fostering a culture of teamwork and high performance.
Our commitment to NHSPeople Promise reflects our dedication to improving the work experience within the NHS for all individuals, with our leadership principles intricately linked to the NHS leadership competency model.
We prioritize compassion, inclusivity, and the promotion of equality and diversity while actively challenging discrimination.
You will collaborate with the CEO, fellow board members, and local community partners to develop and implement a comprehensive five-year plan for GM Integrated Care. This plan will involve:
- Interpreting and executing the NHS Long Term Plan, NICE quality standards, and other national strategic priorities.
- Addressing elective recovery timelines and tackling health disparities.
- Achieving the objectives outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan.
The Chief Officer will oversee performance management related to workforce issues across all NHS service providers within the ICS. This includes:
- Identifying performance risks and challenges related to the workforce.
- Collaborating with relevant providers and partners to devise effective solutions.
- Addressing subpar performance in conjunction with NHS GM's Executive Team to determine necessary interventions.
Exceptional communication skills are essential to foster community trust, build strong collaborations, and cultivate partnerships, thereby creating compassionate environments where individuals and teams can excel at organizational, partnership, and system levels.
A full membership in the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or an equivalent qualification in a relevant management and leadership discipline is required. Additionally, experience in delivering large-scale digital and workforce transformation is essential, along with the ability to lead complex and sometimes contentious change initiatives effectively.
