Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs Specialist

Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a dedicated and skilled Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fantastic Primary School with an Early Years Provision on site. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our youngest learners with complex needs and non-verbal autism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to children with complex needs and non-verbal autism in the Early Years setting.
  • Assist with the implementation of personalized learning plans and interventions.
  • Use alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, to support non-verbal children.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor and review each child's progress.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care needs, if required.
  • Engage children in play-based learning activities to promote their development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with complex needs and non-verbal autism, preferably in an Early Years setting.
  • A minimum of Level 2 qualification in Childcare.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
