Job Summary

East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking an experienced operational and command-focused leader to join our EOC Clinical Hub as an EOC Clinical Commander. As part of our Reshaping EOC programme, this new role will provide a daily 24/7 tactical command role in EOC, responsible for the overall tactical command, coordination, and performance of the EOC Clinical Hub.

Main Duties

The EOC Clinical Commander will provide visible leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making in a live dynamic environment, effectively overseeing the daily EOC Clinical Hub tactical plan. This role will work in conjunction with the EOC Duty Commander, undertaking national major incident doctrine roles and associated action cards.

Job Responsibilities

The EOC Clinical Commander will be responsible for ensuring compliance with EMAS policies and procedures, prioritizing patient safety, and effectively managing and leading teams in relation to managing performance. This role requires experience as a lead clinician in emergency care, leading other clinicians and supporting staff.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • HCPC Registered Paramedic and/or Registered Nurse
  • 3 years post-registration clinical experience and experience as a Band 6
  • NARU Operational and/or Tactical Commander Trained (or willingness to work towards)
  • 2 years' experience of effectively managing and leading teams in relation to managing performance
