We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner to join our Theatre Department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.
About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for a qualified nurse or soon-to-be qualified nurse to develop their skills and experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
As a Band 6 Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of patient care, working collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient and effective Theatre services.
You will assist in the implementation of training and development needs of the multi-disciplinary team, and participate in the on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the ongoing organisation of the unit, including responsibility for a designated area of practice within the department on a daily basis.
- Provide effective managerial and clinical leadership of the departmental staff in conjunction with or in the absence of the Band 7 Theatre Coordinator.
- Support the process of risk management and health & safety, upholding relevant policies to promote this and ensuring incidents are reported appropriately.
- Undertake individual performance review and the identification and implementation of personal development plans for junior staff.
- Monitor the compliance of all Trust Policies and National Guidelines.

Person SpecificationQualifications and Training:
- Registered Nurse Qualification on NMC Register.
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
- Facilitation/Coaching/Mentorship programme.
- Practice Supervisor/Assessor Training.
Clinical Skills and Experience:
- Continuous recent experience as Band 5 Scrub Practitioner in an acute setting.
- Experience of mentorship/clinical supervision.
- Demonstrable interest and commitment to the professional development of others.
- Understanding of the issues pertaining to clinical risk management.
Governance:
- NMC Code of Conduct Essence of Care.
- Local nursing standards National Patient Survey.
- Physically able to perform all aspects of clinical nursing role to include manual handling of patients.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check:
