Job Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Materials for Quantum Technologies

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Materials for Quantum Technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research activities and programmes in the area of Materials for Quantum Technologies, with a focus on developing quantum technologies capable of operating at room temperature and under ambient conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and undertake the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute, and innovation in the area of Materials for Quantum Technologies.
  • Contribute to the Department's vision to develop quantum technologies capable of operating at room temperature and under ambient conditions.
  • Develop and lead research programmes in collaboration with other academics within the Department, across other research centres and institutes across the College, and other departments within the College.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations to relevant audiences, including at international conferences.
  • Teach and assess across a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, including lectures, laboratory classes, group exercises, and research projects.
  • Supervise and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students, including PhD students.
  • Contribute to the development and performance of colleagues through coaching and mentoring.
  • Act as a role model in areas of research, teaching, and management as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • PhD in the physical sciences, engineering, or related field or equivalent.
  • A developing national reputation and expertise in the field of Materials for Quantum Technologies.
  • A track record and/or vision to develop quantum technologies capable of operating at room temperature and under ambient conditions.
  • An ability to articulate a clear research vision which complements existing work.
  • Experience of preparing grant applications for submission.
  • A portfolio of high-quality research publications, confirming national standing (commensurate with career stage).
