About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Interaction - Leeds. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for providing input into concepts that encompass the customers' manufacturing requirements and will be responsible for the mechanical design realization of projects under your control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design automated assembly machines, semi-automated work cells, and manual tooling aids for factory production equipment.
  • Analyse customer requirements and create specifications to develop the scope, design, and drawing package for manufacturing equipment.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Support, debug, troubleshoot, and integrate activities to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Analyse and specify commercial components to meet project requirements.
  • Evaluate strength and cycle time requirements to ensure optimal design solutions.
  • Review drawings and prepare drawing documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with team members from various departments to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • HNC or Apprentice Trained with proven experience within the industry.
  • Experience in the design of machines and solutions for automated production processes from concept to delivery.
  • Experience using Solidworks would be beneficial.
  • Production of engineering drawings, 3D-CAD models, and technical files.
  • Disciplined approach to project planning and project management.
  • Ability to present designs to customers.
  • Knowledge of current British Standards.
  • Preparing BOMs.
  • Creative mind with good problem-solving skills.
