Position Overview:

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a permanent Associate Practitioner role based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct various healthcare science (Band 4) technical and scientific tasks, including reception duties, data entry into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), embedding patient samples, microtomy of patient samples, and managing block and slide filing, as well as operating digital scanners.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of complex laboratory equipment.
  • Provide technical and analytical assistance to registered Biomedical Scientists.
  • Maintain precise records related to a wide range of activities performed.
  • Supervise and allocate tasks to Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA).
  • Recognize the limits of your practice and refer to registered Biomedical Scientists as necessary.

This position will focus on histopathology, encompassing all aspects of histology, cytology, and immunocytochemistry duties.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate should be well-organized, possess excellent communication and data entry skills, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Pathology within the NHS is essential.

Working Hours:

The role requires a commitment of 37 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
