Job Title: Midwife

MSF UK is seeking a skilled and compassionate Midwife to join our team. As a Midwife with MSF, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality maternity care to women and newborns in challenging and resource-constrained environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide pre- and post-delivery care to women and newborns
  • Deliver babies, often in complicated situations
  • Care for survivors of sexual violence
  • Set up and manage maternity departments in new health centers and hospitals
  • Work with community birth attendants to ensure safe community birthing practices
  • Run awareness programs in the community
  • Train local midwives
  • Provide on-call care, often 24 hours a day
Requirements:
  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Irish Nursing Board registration
  • Two years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience in supervising, managing, and training others
  • Experience of obstetric emergencies and complicated deliveries
  • Willingness to be regularly on call for difficult and complicated deliveries
  • Over three months of experience working in a low-resource setting
  • Ability to work in unstable areas
  • Adaptability and ability to work in a multicultural team
  • Flexibility and ability to manage stress
  • Availability for nine to twelve months
Assets:
  • Tropical nursing diploma
  • Knowledge of STDs/HIV/AIDS
  • Family planning experience
  • Community midwifery experience
