The Role
This position serves as a vital link to the Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Development, overseeing all facets of research related to academic personnel within the faculty. Responsibilities include promoting and monitoring an increase in research activity, serving as the primary contact for faculty-specific research guidance, managing research-related contractual arrangements, implementing research strategies pertinent to the faculty, and engaging with colleagues in the 'Research & Knowledge Development' organizational group as directed by the Associate Dean.
While this position can be held by an Assistant Professor, Associate Professors will also be expected to provide line management to academic staff within their faculty as part of their responsibilities.
The post holder will typically report to the Faculty Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
- For appointees who are Associate Professors, there is an expectation to undertake line management responsibilities within the faculty.
- In addition to regular participation in faculty meetings, you may occasionally be called upon to lead these meetings when relevant to the role.
- Engage in all committees and meetings pertinent to the position.
- Champion and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all aspects of the role.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by senior leadership, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to changing circumstances and the evolving needs of the university.
- Proven experience in conducting research within the last five years, with a strong record of publishing research outputs relevant to at least one of the faculty's programs.
- Thorough understanding of the Research Excellence Framework.
- Solid grasp of research funding mechanisms.
- Ability to engage effectively with academic and professional communities to enhance the reputation of research and researchers within the faculty.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
