Job Purpose
We are seeking a qualified actuary to become a part of our bulk annuity pricing team.

The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering pricing recommendations and collaborating with the broader BPA team to meet annual new business objectives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Generate quotations and provide pricing recommendations for bulk annuity buy-ins and buyouts.
  • Collaborate with the investment front office to identify appropriate assets for bulk annuity transactions.
  • Work in tandem with reinsurance actuaries to ensure reinsurance is properly integrated within quotations.
  • Review legal agreements and participate in contract negotiations with external partners.
  • Support business development initiatives and manage client relationships.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of Canada Life's pricing bases and models, ensuring alignment with risk tolerances and scalability for future growth.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure adherence to risk governance protocols.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and developments to ensure business processes and strategies remain competitive.
  • Provide necessary support to management and colleagues to implement recommendations and facilitate change in alignment with business needs.

Desired Qualifications and Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of UK Defined Benefit pensions.
  • Familiarity with the bulk annuity market and associated products.
  • Understanding of capital modeling and profit testing methodologies.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to senior management and non-actuaries.
  • Ability to implement and maintain an actuarial control framework.
  • Must be a qualified actuary.
