Job Summary:
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Support Technician - HGV Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our vehicle fleet, including heavy goods vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and specialized equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out diagnostic investigations and repairs on vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Work to standards as laid down by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) guidelines.
- Previous experience of working in a busy commercial vehicle workshop or dealership is required.
- Be a fully qualified time-served HGV Mechanic with appropriate City & Guilds certificates or equivalent.
- Have a current driving license and sound knowledge of modern vehicle systems, including CAN-BUS, current legislation, and the ability to operate a wide range of power tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to issue and follow instructions, work well as part of a team, and work with minimum supervision.
- Participate in the 24-hour Stand-By rota operated by the Fleet & Equipment Workshop West.
Requirements:
- Be a fully qualified time-served HGV Mechanic with appropriate City & Guilds certificates or equivalent.
- Have a current driving license.
- Sound knowledge of modern vehicle systems, including CAN-BUS, current legislation, and the ability to operate a wide range of power tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and work with minimum supervision.
What We Offer:
- A competitive salary range of SFRS Grade 4 £32, - £34, per annum.
- A market allowance of £3, per annum for suitably experienced candidates.
