About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our political strategy and campaigns team at Greenpeace UK. As the Head of Politics, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective political strategies to drive change and influence policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the development of political strategies across our campaigns, leveraging our organisational strengths in media, mass engagement, investigations, and organising.
  • Provide leadership and management to a team of political campaigners, setting clear expectations and nurturing a collaborative and effective working culture.
  • Advise campaign teams on effective political strategies and tactics, including investigations, actions, and mass engagement.
  • Build and maintain high-level political contacts and relationships, leveraging these to drive change and influence policy.
  • Develop and implement successful political lobbying and stakeholder influencing strategies at a senior level.
  • Identify and capitalise on political opportunities to support organisational and campaign goals.
  • Lead the development and communication of new ideas and strategies to support organisational and campaign goals.
  • Collaborate with the programme leadership team to ensure effective integration of political strategies across campaigns.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of politics, including UK and international political fora, devolved assemblies, and local councils.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between political change and the use of tactics, including investigations, actions, and mass engagement.
  • Significant experience of political lobbying and stakeholder influencing at a senior level.
  • Demonstrable understanding of how to develop successful political strategies that leverage political support to drive change.
  • Ability to lead a team in accordance with Greenpeace's values.
