CNC Machining Specialist - Permanent Night Shift

Location:
Chesterfield

Compensation:
Up to £20 per hour (overtime opportunities available)

Work Schedule:
Permanent Night Shift
Monday-Wednesday: 17:30 - 06:00
Thursday: 17:30 - 03:00 (with the option to work overtime until 06:00 at a 1.3x overtime rate)

Role Summary:

We are in search of a proficient CNC Machining Specialist to set up and operate CNC equipment, producing components that align with engineering specifications and client requirements. This role involves maintaining operational controls on the shop floor and ensuring adherence to all protocols for monitoring and measuring tools.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC Milling machines utilizing FANUC controls.
  • Collaborate with fellow operators and quality inspectors to standardize inspection techniques.
  • Manage multiple machines in a sequence and utilize micrometers for part measurement.
  • Work within a manufacturing setting, achieving production goals while identifying defects and quality concerns.
  • Maintain operational controls and measuring instruments on the shop floor.
  • Promote a safe working environment and propose enhancements to the direct supervisor.
  • Communicate and reinforce the organization's dedication to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures consistently.
  • Operate within the ISO9001 quality management framework and fulfill customer-specific requirements.

Candidate Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable position (preferred).
  • GCSE A-D in English and Mathematics or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experienced CNC setter/operator with familiarity in FANUC controls.
  • Prior experience with milling or turning machinery.
  • Proficient in handling various materials, including stainless steels, Inconel, and other alloys.
  • Experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics.
  • Logical and systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Capability to work autonomously and take initiative.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess prior experience operating CNC machinery, ideally within a subcontract manufacturing context. Given that this is a night shift role, candidates should be comfortable working independently while upholding high standards of quality.
