Key Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist Apprentice
- Fabricating high-quality, precision-engineered components.
- Determining the most effective and economical tooling and programming strategies.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings to produce components within specified tolerances.
- Engaging in offline programming tasks.
- Utilizing CNC programming skills (Siemens, Protrak).
- Assisting in supervising and mentoring a team of machinists, offering guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Programming CNC machines for new component production.
- Creating and maintaining documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Conducting staff reviews, supervision sessions, and return-to-work discussions.
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance of machines as per manufacturer specifications.
- Coordinating machine repairs and servicing.
- Possessing the ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and manuals proficiently.
- Exhibiting leadership qualities, including the capacity to inspire and develop team members.
- Demonstrating a strong level of computer proficiency in CAD, Word, Excel, and manufacturing systems.
- Having a foundational understanding of machine operations, including sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
