About the Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a highly motivated and experienced optometrist to join our ophthalmology service as a Deputy Head of Optometry. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality optometric services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and management support to the Head of Optometry
  • Develop and implement clinical strategies to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive optometric services
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide teaching and training to junior staff and students
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Optometry and registration with the General Optical Council
  • Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent specialist knowledge in hospital optometry
  • Independent prescribing or progress towards this qualification
  • At least 10 years of experience in hospital optometry, including core and specialized areas
  • Strong clinical and leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
