Job Title: Animal Care Team Lead
Responsibilities:
- Execute all duties of a Senior Animal Technician.
- Provide training in animal care techniques to new technicians.
- Oversee and suggest improvements to the work processes and procedural compliance of assigned animal technicians.
- Ensure daily adherence to animal and cage observation requirements.
- Maintain compliance with designated inventory levels, colony populations, and production goals.
- Guarantee timely submission of colony and inventory information reports.
- Coordinate and supervise the shipment of animals independently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Continuously monitor, practice, and enforce strict biosecurity protocols.
- Assist supervisors in developing and managing employee work schedules for assigned areas.
- Collaborate with supervisors to address employee performance and disciplinary issues.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual reviews and Performance Management Development (PMD) plans.
Qualifications:
- Possess all qualifications of a Senior Animal Technician and demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Active participation in regular staff meetings.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.
- Contribution to training, development, and mentoring initiatives.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Impartial evaluation of colleagues' work performance.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch arms and legs.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Competency Level IV required in Training Record.
- Understanding and application of (Recognize, Act, Tell, Sustain).
- Knowledge and adherence to AAALAC requirements.
- Evaluation of staff utilizing the Technician Advancement Program (TAP).
