About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Service Manager to join our Housing and Tenancy Management Services team at the London Borough of Hounslow. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Tenancy Sustainment Officers to deliver a high-quality, modern, and flexible service to our residents.

As an Assistant Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the advice given by your team, ensuring that you are working to achieve the ultimate goal of tenants living safely and independently in their homes and on their estates. You will also be responsible for managing workloads within and across teams to ensure resources are targeted in the right place at the right time.

You will have excellent knowledge and expertise in managing complex cases, including domestic abuse, MARAC, MAPPA, safeguarding, cuckooing, hospital discharges, offenders, and hoarding. You will also be responsible for leading, inducting, and training staff, clearly communicating the service objectives and ensuring a flexible approach to service delivery.

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated to support tenants, while effectively managing risks and challenging behaviour. You will build up trusting relationships with tenants and professionals to work collaboratively to achieve individual outcomes for tenants while supporting the shared goals of the council.

About the Team You'll Be Working In

You will be working in a dynamic and supportive team environment, where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our residents. You will be responsible for line management of 6 Tenancy Sustainment Officers and will work closely with other managers and officers within Housing and Tenancy Services to ensure services are integrated at the point of delivery and at the strategic planning level.

About You

  1. You will have a proven track record of providing effective leadership, support, and motivation to staff in a team environment.
  2. You will have excellent knowledge and expertise in managing complex cases, including legal processes and case management support to Housing and Tenancy Officers and Tenancy Sustainment Officers.
  3. You will be an expert problem solver and confident decision maker, able to seek out and implement bespoke solutions to complex issues.
  4. You will have good project management skills and good knowledge of housing and tenancy management.

Qualifications:

Essential for the role:

  1. You must have a previous experience working in the Housing Sector.
  2. You must have previous experience in how effectively to manage complex housing cases at a management level.
