Job Description

Job Purpose:

NerdWallet UK is seeking a skilled WordPress engineer to join our team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will focus on maintaining and growing NerdWallet UK's WordPress platform, enabling our Content & SEO team to reach their organic growth targets and establish NerdWallet UK within the upper levels of search results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and create new features using Gutenberg blocks, integrating 3rd party services (both external & internal services), optimizing the pages and website based on input from UX & Design & Core Web Vitals reports.
  • Keep the WordPress framework & plugins up-to-date and implement security patches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build features and high-quality products.
  • Develop and maintain WordPress API.
  • Craft solutions from requirements and acceptance criteria from product manager, content team, SEO & commercial team members.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with a proven track record of building consumer web applications or services.
  • Strong understanding, building, and debugging of scalable, high-performance web applications built with reusability and componentization in mind.
  • Strong background developing using WordPress, PHP, & JavaScript, and Gutenberg blocks.
  • Experience with React.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter, high degree of ownership.
