Job Title: Lead Data Privacy Strategist

This is an exceptional opportunity to serve as a Data Privacy Subject Matter Expert within the Risk & Compliance division, offering expert guidance on data privacy legislation and compliance to a UK-based financial services organization. Collaborate closely with the Data Protection Officer to cultivate a robust culture of compliance and oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Management: Ensure strict adherence to data privacy laws, emphasizing data processing obligations. Evaluate and challenge data privacy practices across various teams, including risk management, security, governance, and legal departments.
  • Risk Assessment: Oversee and assess data privacy controls, data mapping, and incident response strategies. Conduct compliance audits and manage investigations related to data breaches.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay informed on developments in data privacy legislation and implement necessary changes. Provide insights on regulatory implications and ensure that internal procedures align with new legal requirements.
  • Training & Documentation: Create educational materials, generate management reports, and maintain compliance documentation. Offer guidance and support for Data Subject Requests and Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster relationships with internal stakeholders and external entities such as clients and auditors. Provide expert consultancy and ensure effective communication regarding data privacy issues.

  • Adherence to UK data privacy laws.
  • Quality of stakeholder engagement and feedback.
  • Successful implementation of data privacy practices within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in data protection or GDPR compliance, preferably within a financial services context.
  • In-depth understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and FCA regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in IT, compliance, or financial operations is a plus.
  • Relevant professional certifications and exceptional communication abilities.
