Primary Purpose of the Role:

Establish Procurement Policies within the designated category in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, as necessary, and implement and oversee Framework Agreements for policy suppliers. Categories may encompass either Indirect (overhead) or Direct (for products/projects) sectors.

In close cooperation with other functions and stakeholders as required, manage all procurement aspects of assigned Bid and Project work packages, ensuring that packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost, and performance (quality and delivery) standards. Identify and manage risks and opportunities.

Although the role may be assigned to a specific business or location, the job holder may be requested to assist the function's activities in other businesses or locations across the UK.

Principal Relationships:

  • Internal Category stakeholders, CBU or GBU Management, and UK PCC Team.
  • UK Purchasing Shared Service.
  • Country or Global Business Units Purchasing teams.
  • Group Purchasing Engineering and Bids & Project Management at UK or CBU level.
  • Suppliers.

Skills:

Essential:

  • Formulating category strategies, developing sourcing alternatives, cost benchmarking, creating commercial models, drafting contracts, establishing KPI models, and facilitating major/complex tender processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Stakeholder Management proficiency.
  • Interpersonal skills to enhance cross-organizational collaboration and work effectively with suppliers.
  • Technical and Supply Market knowledge relevant to the Purchasing Families associated with the role.

Desirable:

  • Needs Analysis, Technical Interface Management, Acquisition Strategy formulation, Framework Negotiation and Execution, International Sourcing, Supplier Management, Risk and Opportunity Management, Sustainable Procurement.
  • Team management, leadership, and team development.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in mid to senior level purchasing/procurement.
  • Proven track record of applying Category Management techniques to establish long-term supply policies.
  • Experience working within a Shared Service environment with a demonstrable Customer Service Focus.
  • Utilization of Supplier Relationship and Performance Management techniques and metrics.

Desirable:

  • Engaging suppliers in the SC21 program.
  • Low-cost country sourcing, particularly focusing on India / Far East / Middle East.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • MCIPS or equivalent qualifications in other disciplines.
  • High standards of numeracy and literacy.

Desirable:

  • Currently pursuing MCIPS or Business Degree/Qualification or equivalent, or willingness to do so.
  • Business or Engineering degree, or equivalent.
