Job Description

The Line Controller is a key role in the production process, responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the manufacturing line. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the OTL in the manufacture of quality products and meet production needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Customer Specification, Hygiene, Site Rotation Policy, Health, Safety & Environmental Procedures, Production Control, and Productivity.
  • Monitor and control product quality, including product entering and leaving the area.
  • Ensure the correct labelling of all pallets leaving the area.
  • Advise or recommend improvements to work methods to improve productivity, performance, and safety.
  • Communicate regularly with Management to ensure they are fully briefed on all aspects of line/area operations.
  • Maintain a working understanding of the operation of machinery within the line/area.
  • Liaise with the incoming/outgoing Line Controller at shift changeover to establish any problems with machinery.
  • Ensure all appropriate paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist in the control and organisation of the labour allocated to the line/area.
  • Effectively manage the timings of breaks to ensure minimum downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Liaise closely with training to ensure operatives are trained to line/area requirements.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and train staff where required.
  • Liaise with the Technical team to ensure the correct implementation of intake procedure.
  • Assist in the training of new key colleagues.
  • Apply and abide by all aspects of legislation and Company Policy on Health, Safety, and Environmental, including RSI, back injuries, and Lifting and Handling.
  • Monitor hygiene and housekeeping, including the cleanliness and security of all Company property.
  • Work a proportion of overtime at weekend or end of shift as required.
  • Report to the Department Manager immediately any occurrence that could affect the finances or security of the Company or put its name into disrepute.
  • Undertake any other reasonable and relevant duties as required by Management.
