We are offering a unique opportunity for a Band 6 Pediatric or Maternity Practitioner to join our dedicated Safeguarding Families & Complex Health team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This role is designed for an enthusiastic and driven individual eager to enhance their expertise in child safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance your understanding and skills related to the safeguarding of children and young individuals.
- Establish a secure and efficient communication framework for the timely exchange of information among healthcare professionals and relevant agencies.
- Provide support to hospital staff upon request.
Main Duties
Your role will involve assessing and identifying at-risk children and families who have utilized our healthcare services, ensuring that appropriate health and social care professionals are notified promptly.
You will also play a vital role in coordinating and contributing to inter-professional training on child safeguarding across the Trust, and may be required to act in the capacity of the Named Nurse as necessary. We encourage applications from candidates with practical experience in safeguarding.
The safeguarding children team operates a comprehensive audit program, and the successful candidate will participate in this initiative. Additionally, you will assist in the coordination and delivery of inter-professional training in safeguarding children throughout the Trust.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with both acute and community health staff, as well as partner organizations.
- Innovate and implement new strategies to improve communication pathways.
- Continuously enhance your clinical expertise while adhering to safeguarding procedures concerning the welfare of children, young people, families, and unborn children.
- Notify the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children or Named Midwife regarding any safeguarding concerns.
- Engage in regular clinical and safeguarding supervision in accordance with the organization's policies.
- Actively participate in the safeguarding team's audit program.
- Contribute to internal and external Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews with the support of the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children.
- Complete statutory requests for information as required.
