Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team at Boots Opticians. As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient-centred care and ensuring the safe supply of medicines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide health advice and guidance to patients, tailoring conversations to meet their individual needs.
  • Deliver the technical aspects of the dispensary, including ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  • Comply with legal and professional requirements, as well as accepted guidance on professional practice in Boots.
  • Engage with GPs and practice teams to promote services and items.
  • Ensure efficient dispensary operations and minimize dispensing losses.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have either an NVQ Level 2 equivalent in Pharmacy Services or be working towards and have completed the first year of an Mpharm course at university.

You will also need to have completed a Medicines Counter Assistant (NVQ2) qualification or equivalent to work in our dispensaries. However, if you have not previously completed this, we will support your development to complete our training within 6 months of joining us.

Opportunities for Development

We offer opportunities for further development and career progression, including support towards achieving a competency and knowledge-based NVQ Level 3 (QCF) qualification in Pharmacy Services. This could lead to an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) role and further career advancement.
