About the Role

We are seeking a registered nurse with a mental health scope of practice to join our team at Whanganui District Health Board.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to quality patient care and education.

Previous experience in mental health and working with alcohol and drug addictions is desirable.

This is a fixed term 0.94 FTE role available, following a 4 days on, 2 days off roster pattern.

The role is based at Hillmorton Hospital, where you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team providing specialist medical withdrawal management and stabilisation for people across the South Island.

As a nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, education, and support to individuals seeking treatment for alcohol and/or substance dependence.

We are looking for a reliable and conscientious individual with a genuine interest in this exciting specialty within mental health.
