Versatile Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Versatile Maintenance Technician (Electrical Focus)
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Work Arrangement: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts, 8-hour workdays
Role Summary
The primary responsibility of the Versatile Maintenance Technician is to execute both electrical and mechanical repair tasks across the manufacturing facility. This includes performing scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with established timelines and providing training support to Operators and Crafts personnel as needed. The role may also involve undertaking intricate project assignments during machine overhauls or refurbishments.
Key Responsibilities
- Address equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime and enhance long-term reliability
- Implement the preventive maintenance strategy as directed by senior maintenance personnel
- Utilize root cause analysis methodologies and 5S principles
- Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement by identifying and resolving recurring issues
- Maintain cost efficiency by identifying potential savings
- Conduct routine Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in an electronic tracking system
- Provide training to Operators and Crafts in First Line and Planned Maintenance tasks as required
- Collaborate with other departments and maintenance teams to ensure seamless communication across shifts
- Engage with equipment suppliers for spare parts procurement and troubleshooting support
- Oversee the training of apprentices
- Participate in monthly meetings to reinforce the importance of meeting customer and regulatory standards
- Ensure adherence to quality procedures and guidelines to meet quality objectives
- Immediately escalate any quality concerns identified during operations
Required Skills
- Familiarity with Electricity at Work Regulations, COSHH, and Safety at Work Regulations
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Demonstrated proactivity, self-motivation, and adaptability in high-pressure situations
Qualifications
- Proficient in interpreting Pneumatic, Electrical, and Hydraulic Schematics
- Multi-skilled with hands-on experience in PLC troubleshooting and repair
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
- Electrical focus
- Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship is preferred
- HNC qualification or equivalent experience is advantageous
- Proficient in standard MS Office applications
