Electrical Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Spencer Ogden. As a key member of our Operational Technology Team, you will play a critical role in delivering upper quartile performance for our wind generation assets.

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of PLC operation, programming, and management, as well as a broad range of communication protocols used in SCADA systems in the electricity generation industry. They will also have knowledge of wind farm internal network topology, design, and maintenance, as well as the latest industry-specific cyber security requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control and instrumentation system solutions to ensure safe and efficient operation of wind generation assets
  • Provide engineering support and maintenance for control and instrumentation system hardware and software
  • Develop and integrate new solutions to deliver remote asset supervision and control
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in control and instrumentation systems

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of PLC operation, programming, and management
  • Expert knowledge of a broad range of communication protocols used in SCADA systems in the electricity generation industry
  • Knowledge of wind farm internal network topology, design, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of latest industry-specific cyber security requirements
  • Working knowledge of safety legislation specific to electricity generation industry in the UK
  • Understanding of O&M contracts and specifically being able to understand technical scope
  • Confident and articulate communicator who can explain complex engineering problems in non-technical language
  • Proficient in creating comprehensive technical documentation
