Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on database design, development, and maintenance.
  • Manage and optimize the Connells Group database environment to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with IT development teams and production DBAs to troubleshoot and resolve production system issues.
  • Work closely with the infrastructure and architecture team as a SQL developer to design and implement database solutions.
  • Own and lead SQL performance enhancement projects for the group.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the in-house application architecture and its impact on database performance.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors to resolve issues with bespoke systems.
  • Contribute to major projects and initiatives that drive business growth and innovation.
  • Enforce group security controls and best practices to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Document and implement all SQL configuration changes to maintain a stable and secure database environment.
  • Assist DBAs with SQL-related issues and provide guidance on database best practices.
  • Develop data collection processes to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of T-SQL and SQL development best practices.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL development and database administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server stack, including SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Understanding of development methodologies and ITIL processes.
  • Advanced monitoring skills across multiple technologies.
  • Understanding of SQL Server architecture to Microsoft standards.
  • Experience with automation deployment tools such as Azure DevOps and OctopusDeploy.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-on, HADR environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand programming languages such as C# and Python.
  • Cloud services experience, including Azure SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
  • Experience with Azure Data Platforms, including Azure Data Factory and Azure Fabric.
  • Strong working knowledge of PowerShell.
