English Teacher Opportunity for Special Schools

We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to join our team at a Special School in Havering. This full-time role offers a temporary to permanent contract, providing an exciting opportunity to support students with a range of special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the unique needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure student engagement and progress.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide holistic support for students.
  • Contribute to the school's initiatives aimed at improving student well-being and academic outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience teaching English to SEND students is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of SEND teaching strategies and approaches to literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
