As a Senior Acoustics Research Scientist, you will be responsible for acquiring new insights to develop solutions that enhance our research capabilities. This role demands a meticulous, systematic approach and a keen attention to detail. Additionally, you will be expected to identify potential commercial opportunities arising from your work, as these can lead to the creation of innovative products and services. At NPL, we value collaboration, mutual respect, and continuous improvement for the benefit of our team and our clients.
NPL is a leader in metrology, equipped with specialized facilities such as laboratory tanks and an acoustics pressure vessel. The successful candidates will join NPL during a pivotal growth phase, presenting an excellent opportunity to maximize the impact of high-quality scientific research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing techniques for underwater acoustic measurement and calibration using our specialized laboratory facilities.
- Creating experimental methodologies for acoustic measurement to be delivered to clients and collaborators.
- Executing NPL's scientific initiatives, including the provision of measurement services and contributing to research and development projects.
- Contributing to scientific publications and participating in scientific conferences.
Furthermore, your general duties will encompass:
- Sharing your knowledge to benefit the team and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Building partnerships to enhance our capabilities.
- Representing our work externally and promoting our initiatives.
- Providing technical support for any proposals we may pursue.
