Sites Contracts Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our dynamic team at Thorne International Boiler Services Ltd. The successful candidate will manage and execute engineering projects from concept through to completion, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to deliver mechanical engineering solutions that meet client expectations and company goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organising kick-off meetings for new project assignments with the sales team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Assessing contracts and project requirements for materials, labor, plant hire, tools, and consumables to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Liaising with the design team for drawings, P&ID's, and code standards and specifications related to the project or contract.
  • Organising and planning scheduled labor for each contract and project to ensure timely completion.
  • Dealing with sub-contract companies within the supply chain to support projects and contracts.
  • Recruiting sub-contract labor to assist projects during peak times.
  • Conducting regular site visits to support the site team and supervisors.
  • Ensuring all tradesmen and contractors are competent for the task at hand and checking they hold a valid certificate.
  • Completing regular method statements and risk assessments for projects.
  • Instructing direct workforce and tradesmen, setting goals and tasks for the team to achieve to meet deadlines.
  • Overseeing site works projects from start to completion, while checking work is carried out safely at all times.
  • Motivating and disciplining staff and tradesmen as necessary.
  • Completing reports for clients on completion of a project.
  • Organising H&S files, CCP's, and ITP's.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and signing off timesheets for staff and sub-contractors.
  • Reviewing and signing off supply chain invoices related to the project.
  • Assisting with timescales for estimates at quotation stages.
  • Site visits and gaining good rapport with clients.
  • Placing orders with suppliers and organising tools and equipment for site works.
  • Assisting project engineers to plan site works.
  • Developing personal skills and providing professional recommendations for changes to site activities or procedures to boost efficiency.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Work experience or apprenticeship in fabrication/engineering.
Soft Skills:
  • Able to work well with others and part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work well on your own – good initiative.
  • Flexible on work tasks.
  • Understanding and considerate – patience with staff.
  • Good use of computer – Microsoft Word/Excel/Project and Outlook.
  • Certifications: SMSTS or IOSH/NEBOSH.
Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on project demands.

We offer a competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000, pension, 22 days annual leave + Christmas break at discretion, and ongoing training and career development opportunities.
