SEN HLTA (Secondary) Job Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Ashington. As a key member of the support team, you will make a real difference every day by providing tailored support to students with special educational needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to deliver educational plans tailored to students' needs.
  • Lead small group interventions and 1:1 support sessions to help students achieve their potential.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support students' personal and emotional development, working closely with teachers to adapt lessons for SEN students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff and parents, ensuring high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a SEN HLTA or in a similar role, with a strong knowledge of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable, along with a passion for working with young people and supporting their development.
  • Commitment to ensuring the well-being of all students, with an enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
