Role: Band 5 Registered General Nurse - Continence Care Specialist

An excellent opportunity has emerged for a part-time Band 5 Registered General Nurse to join the Continence Care Specialist Team. While prior expertise in continence care is not mandatory, a strong commitment to delivering empathetic and professional care that upholds the dignity of patients is essential.

The primary role of a Band 5 Continence Care Specialist Nurse involves collaborating with the team to evaluate and provide clinical support to patients in various settings, including clinics and their residences. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license due to the requirement for travel within the service area.

You will become part of a welcoming and supportive team within a large community health trust, where professional mentorship is readily accessible, and both personal and professional growth are actively encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Adult Continence Care Service Specialist Team, you will assist in delivering high-quality assessment and clinical care to patients experiencing bladder and/or bowel issues, in clinics, at home, and in care facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent patient assessments, including bladder scans, and formulating treatment plans.
  • Establishing and nurturing positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Providing training on bladder and bowel care to trust staff and other relevant areas as needed.

Job Duties

Your role will involve delivering care in alignment with organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You will support the service by managing new patient referral data, scheduling clinic and home visit appointments, handling messages, and addressing phone inquiries, along with other administrative tasks as required.

Additionally, you will conduct continence assessments, including bladder scanning, physical evaluations, and urine testing as clinically indicated, ensuring high standards of clinical care for patients in various settings.

Compliance with the established service level agreements and formularies for the provision of containment products is expected.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Diploma/BSc Hons RN qualification or equivalent.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various databases.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with SystmOne Electronic Health Record.
