Medical Device Development Engineer

CK Group is seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Development Engineer to join their team in Cambridge. This is a contract-based position for 12 months, offering a competitive hourly rate of £19.49 to £24.94 PAYE (Inside IR35).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of drug delivery devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk management assessments and mitigation strategies, including DFMEA and UFMEA, to identify critical functions and potential failure modes.
  • Develop and justify requirement specifications for external suppliers, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Apply theoretical engineering knowledge to analyze and critique design concepts, identifying areas critical to function and potential design sensitivities.
  • Perform tolerance analysis using RSS or Montecarlo methodology to ensure device performance and reliability.
  • Design and develop test rigs and challenge parts to validate device functionality.
  • Manage early-stage usability studies to capture patient capabilities and preferences, informing design decisions.
  • Produce high-quality models and drawings using 3D CAD software.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Pro-Engineer/Creo, and associated document management systems.
  • Strong understanding of complex mechanical systems and engineering calculations, including free body diagrams and beam bending.
  • Experience with risk assessment tools, including FMEA, and quality management systems.
  • Excellent management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage project tasks and deadlines.
