About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced freelance social worker to join our team at Coram, a leading children's charity. As an adoption social worker, you will be responsible for assessing applicants for their suitability as adoptive parents and Early Permanence carers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate applicants' suitability for adoption
  • Write comprehensive reports on applicants' suitability for adoption
  • Work collaboratively with applicants, Coram staff, and other professionals to ensure a smooth adoption process
  • Travel to applicants' homes and conduct video meetings as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • At least three years post-qualifying experience in children's social care settings
  • Experience of completing adoption assessments and writing Prospective Adopters Reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good understanding of the issues affecting adopted people, particularly those from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds
