This is a full-time, permanent position that involves fieldwork, primarily within the northern UK and Midlands, with occasional travel to other areas, which may require overnight stays.

This company serves both private and public sectors, partnering with clients ranging from small and medium enterprises to globally recognized brands across various industries, including construction, offshore operations, motorsport, and museums.
The Fixed Gas Detection team is responsible for supporting clients who require continuously operational systems to monitor diverse gas hazards. Their responsibilities encompass site assessments, system design, installation, commissioning, handover, and ongoing maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
The On-Site Installation Engineer will be tasked with the installation of new FGD systems at customer sites across the UK, along with regular maintenance, servicing, and calibration visits as part of the comprehensive support offered.
- Collaborating with sales team members to conduct site surveys and assist in generating precise FGD system quotations.
- Installing necessary cabling for gas detectors and sounder-beacons connected to control panels.
- Implementing FGD systems of varying sizes for both new and existing clients.
- Utilizing initiative to identify additional client needs while on-site.
- Troubleshooting systems prior to handover to the commissioning team.
- Reviewing existing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs) and Method Statements to ensure suitability for application.
- Conducting Preventative Maintenance Visits for existing FGD systems installed by the company.
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders.
- Collaborating closely with other members of the FGD team, both in the field and office.
- Regularly communicating with the FGD Business Development Manager regarding pertinent information.
- Cooperating with the broader company to fulfill customer requirements.
- Contributing positively to the FGD team's success in achieving company objectives.
- Sharing and implementing best practices to enhance team performance.
- Providing training to team members as necessary.
- Engaging in external training to deepen knowledge of FGD systems.
- Completing relevant training to gain access to construction sites.
- Ensuring timely completion of all administrative tasks.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight as required.
Candidate Profile
This role requires a hands-on approach, and we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Proven experience with electrical systems and live electrical work.
- Familiarity with 4-20mA and RS485, as well as Building Management Systems.
- Experience in electrical installations and cabling.
- Ability to interpret CAD, electrical, wiring schematics, or similar drawings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT proficiency.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Problem-solving skills with the capacity to work independently.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Confidence to question processes to ensure optimal outcomes.

Details
This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, covering the Midlands and northern UK regions. Occasional travel beyond this area may be necessary, and overnight stays may be required.
The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The salary range is £35,000 - £40,000, and the compensation package includes a company van, laptop, mobile phone, and an expense account for overnight stays.
There may also be opportunities for overtime.
