About St Giles Trust
We are a dynamic and established charity dedicated to helping individuals facing challenges to secure employment, housing, and the necessary support. Our core belief is that individuals with firsthand experience of overcoming adversities such as criminal backgrounds, homelessness, addiction, and gang involvement are instrumental in fostering positive change in others.

About This Role

In this role, you will work with young individuals identified as being vulnerable to gang involvement, exploitation, and county lines. The successful candidate will build and sustain positive relationships with students, offering emotional support, guidance, and mentorship while advocating for their overall well-being and success. You will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, addressing their unique needs and challenges by utilizing personal insights, local knowledge, professional expertise, and SOS+ resources to provide support and intervention. Additionally, you will assist students in setting and achieving their academic, personal, and career aspirations.

Collaboration with professionals to develop strategies that minimize risks to students will be essential, as well as maintaining a trauma-informed approach that acknowledges and responds to trauma while amplifying the voices and experiences of students. You will also support and/or co-deliver awareness sessions for the entire school community, professional development sessions, and parent/carer workshops. Promoting a respectful and inclusive school culture and providing guidance on resolving interpersonal conflicts are also vital components of this position.

Key Qualifications

  • Understanding of the challenges and issues faced by young people
  • Proficient in delivering presentations to both large and small groups, effectively communicating key messages and achieving educational objectives
  • Empathetic and supportive attitude towards the needs of young individuals
  • Commitment to exemplary safeguarding practices and understanding of professional boundaries
  • Possession of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field or a willingness to pursue one
  • Strong IT, prioritization, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A flexible, collaborative, and professional approach to work
