Are you an experienced sonographer eager to contribute to a compassionate and professional healthcare environment? University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a dedicated sonographer to join our ultrasound division.
Our ultrasound services are distributed across multiple locations, providing a variety of examinations including general medical, obstetrics, gynecology, vascular, pediatrics, and musculoskeletal imaging.
We also support the Early Pregnancy clinic and various one-stop clinics, ensuring a comprehensive 7-day ultrasound service.
As part of our collaborative and supportive team, you will independently perform and report ultrasound examinations while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Our facilities include 10 general ultrasound rooms, 7 obstetric rooms, 2 Early Pregnancy Clinic rooms, and 1 gynecology room, equipped with a range of advanced ultrasound systems from leading manufacturers.

Main Responsibilities:
- Engage in continuous professional development through internal and external educational initiatives.
- Participate in regular audits and support the training of student sonographers and those pursuing MSc qualifications.
- Utilize ergonomic equipment and well-structured ultrasound lists to promote safe working practices.
- Exhibit high levels of competency while working both independently and collaboratively within the team.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care are essential for this role.
This position is full-time across all locations, with options for part-time and flexible working arrangements available.

Qualifications:
- Essential: Diploma of College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography
- HCPC Registration
- Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound
Experience:
- Postgraduate experience in ultrasound
- Ability to work independently across all ultrasound areas, including obstetrics and gynecology
- Evidence of continual professional development
- Recent experience within the NHS is preferred
Technical Skills:
- Autonomous practitioner with strong time management skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information for accurate clinical reporting
- Excellent communication and counseling skills
- Team-oriented with a compassionate attitude towards patient care
