Job Summary

Career Teachers is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Horticultural Teacher to join their team at a SEND primary and secondary school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with Autism and other additional needs.

About the Role

This is a long-term position based in a Post 16 setting for students with Autism and other additional needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Horticulture and supporting students with SEND.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Horticulture to students with SEND
  • Support students with Autism and other additional needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students
  • Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
  • Be aware of and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care

Requirements

  • A patient and understanding approach and manner
  • A flexible and amenable attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method, and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential
