Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Stockport Council. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching, learning, and progress of students with additional learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of independent learning skills of students with additional learning needs, particularly those with EHCPs and those at SEN School Support.
- Assist in the delivery of academic support programs, including literacy and numeracy interventions.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure the effective implementation of individualized education plans.
- Provide additional support to students during lunchtime and after school, including supervising student work and enrichment activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to support student progress and well-being.
Requirements:
- Strong academic background, with a good understanding of curriculum requirements and teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of students and the school.
- GCSE passes in English and mathematics at minimum grades C or 4 and above, with additional strong GCSE and/or A Level passes in other subject areas.
- Desirable: graduate with a good Honours Degree or other Higher Educational qualification, Qualified Teacher Status, or Teaching Assistant qualified Status.
