Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

Working Hours: Primarily office-based, normal hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm with a 1-hour break.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • RICS chartered status or equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous
  • Actively seeking chartered status would be beneficial
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in quantity surveying (PQS or Contractor) in the UK
  • Sound knowledge of construction contracts, especially JCT, cost management, and procurement
  • Experience of contract administration would be an advantage
  • Experience in take-offs and measurement using industry recognised software
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (Excel, CAD measurement software) with a willingness to learn new skills
  • Eligible to work in the UK and able to commute to Watford
  • Full UK Driving licence is essential

What Lies Ahead?

  • Efficiently managing project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle
  • Administering tender processes and construction contracts, evaluating variations, and negotiating settlements through the entire project lifecycle
  • Lead procurement activities, including tendering and contractor/subcontractor selection
  • Carry out early-stage cost plans and estimates or manage the delivery of detailed cost plans and bills as required by our clients
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular project updates
  • Chairing project meetings and reporting to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the team, clients, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and sub-contractors to achieve project goals
