Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Customer and Sustaining Engineering team. Our products are driving advancements in quantum computing, dark matter research, and materials science. If you have a passion for technology, a keen eye for quality design, and a desire to make a meaningful impact, this role is for you.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet internal and external customer requirements. You will lead on customer projects, from design through to production, in collaboration with the wider technology team, as well as providing technical support for the manufacture, installation, and support of our systems. As a principal, you will analyze designs through hand calculations and FEA, customize standard products, and lead on technical aspects using various engineering tools to inform design decisions.
About You
It is likely that you will have a degree or higher in a relevant engineering or science discipline, with extensive relevant work experience, including working with complex systems and configurations, ideally within a commercial manufacturing environment. Your ability to lead on large projects, knowledge of FMEA and risk analysis, and project management techniques are essential. You will also be familiar with mechanical design principles and able to coach and mentor other team members.
