At ISTARI, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst to join our investment team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating and executing investments in the cybersecurity sector.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and execute investments in cybersecurity startups, working closely with the investment team to identify opportunities and manage the investment pipeline.
- Build and maintain relationships with early-stage investors, practitioners, and thought leaders in the cybersecurity ecosystem.
- Research and analyze the cybersecurity startup landscape, market trends, and investment opportunities to support the investment team in developing investment theses and identifying winning companies.
- Perform financial modeling and analysis to inform investment decisions and support the investment team in developing investment theses.
- Support the investment team in crafting clear and concise investment committee papers, including investment theses, competitive landscaping, expected returns, and key risks and mitigants.
- Maintain and update financial models to reflect changes in the external operating environment and the portfolio companies' actual performance and trajectory.
- Identify opportunities to improve operations of the portfolio company, with a focus on where the ISTARI model can provide differentiated value.
- Support the investment team in interrogating board and company reporting to identify positive developments and flag areas for intervention as required.
- Ideal candidate background and experience: minimum of 2 years of prior work experience in investment banking or at a top-tier consultancy, with prior private equity or venture capital experience a plus but not required.
- Understanding of and experience with growth equity transactions.
- Strong financial modeling skills, familiarity with financial statement analysis and accounting and finance fundamentals.
- Ability to work independently to analyze, interrogate, and manipulate financial forecasts.
- High degree of commercial acumen, able to assess financial information against strategic priorities, operational realities, and ISTARI's investment thesis.
- High degree of comfort with presenting and interacting with senior stakeholders across organizations.
- Able to work cross-culturally in fast-paced, unstructured team environments.
