About the Role

Sellick Partnership is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Childcare Lawyer to join our client, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, in a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of Childcare Lawyers, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants.
  • Allocate work, provide personal development, and conduct 1:1 meetings.
  • Support lawyers in their training and development, and deputize for the Principal Lawyer.
  • Handle complex care matters, including adoption, catastrophic injury, fatalities, and international elements.
  • Manage a caseload of child protection cases, with opportunities for advocacy in the Family Court.
  • Advise Social Services clients on relevant legislation.
  • Prepare legal documentation, including court documents, and assist in specialized matters.
  • Conduct legal research.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a current practicing certificate.
  • Experience in Childcare Law from private or local authority practice.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid working arrangement.
