Premier Group Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team in Newport, South Wales. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing bespoke equipment, working closely with the manufacturing team to bring products to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, and Creo.
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers to ensure smooth production processes.
  • Be involved in the final assembly of products and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Create technical documentation, project reports, and plans to support design and development activities.
  • Update 3D models and drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
  • Input parts into the MRP system, creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production.
  • Check drawings for sign-off and ensure they meet company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects, contributing to the development of innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar Design Engineering or CAD Operation position.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of materials and processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, including SolidWorks, Inventor, and Creo.
  • Knowledge of a variety of materials, including sheet metal, injection-molded plastics, and other relevant materials.
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge, with a focus on core principles and tight tolerances.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with a strong understanding of project management tools and techniques.
