We are looking for a committed and knowledgeable Housing Support and Homelessness Prevention Specialist to join our team in Hillingdon on a full-time temporary basis. The initial contract period is set for 3 months.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in offering guidance, assistance, and support to community members seeking housing solutions, while actively working to mitigate homelessness in the area.

This position demands a comprehensive understanding of housing regulations and welfare benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and support to individuals and families facing housing challenges.
  • Conduct detailed assessments to identify housing needs and eligibility for various housing options.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including local authorities and housing associations, to facilitate effective housing solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and key partners, including statutory services and local landlords.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all interactions, assessments, and decisions in compliance with relevant policies and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Offer ongoing support to individuals in temporary accommodation to ensure effective transitions to permanent housing.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within housing options, homelessness prevention, or social housing.
  • In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Familiarity with relevant services and benefits to assist applicants at risk of homelessness.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively.
  • Desirable housing-related qualifications.
  • Experience in delivering effective services to the public, particularly vulnerable customers.
