Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: London (Bexley/Dartford area)

Salary: £19.50 per hour (PAYE), with an estimated yearly salary of £50k

Contract Type: Rolling/Temporary to Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team in the Train Care department. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the interiors of our operational train fleet are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring both functionality and appearance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine checks and repairs on train interiors, including seating, windows, table trays, toilets, hand dryers, baby change areas, and more.
  2. Conduct quality inspections, basic mechanical fitting, general maintenance, and graffiti removal, ensuring all fixtures are presentable and safe.
  3. Manage inventory levels for tools and materials, reporting any shortages.
  4. Act as the first responder for faults or damages, carrying out repairs and ensuring all tasks meet high safety and quality standards.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all work completed and uphold health and safety regulations at all times.
  6. Receive full training and competency assessments to excel in your role.
Requirements
  1. Competency in basic mechanical fitting tasks.
  2. Experience in the rail sector is advantageous, though candidates from other trades, engineering, production, or facilities maintenance backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  3. Ability to work to high safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  5. A valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification is highly desirable, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
