Job Role: SEND Teaching Assistant

Leader Education is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with children and young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools based in and around Huddersfield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with a wide range of SEND needs, including eating disorders, moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, and dyslexia.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility.
  • Support students with challenging behavior, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support students with SEND.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young adults with SEND.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support students with challenging behavior and SEND.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
