Commercial and Corporate Law Attorney

Job Overview:

You can expect to be involved in a wide range of commercial and corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, business restructuring, and general commercial law. Experience with data protection regulations, such as GDPR, would be an advantage.

As a key member of the Bertram Fairbanks team, you will be expected to work independently and deliver high-quality legal advice with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, providing expert advice, and attending meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Relations:

  • Develop and maintain a strong client relationship
  • Provide professional advice to clients
  • Attend meetings with clients

Case Management:

  • Ensure that all work produced is of the highest standard
  • Advise on and provide legal support in a wide range of commercial and corporate matters
  • Attend meetings with clients and third parties
  • Draft contractual and other legal documents, and prepare advice notes for clients

Business Development:

  • Contribute to the growth and development of the department and the firm
  • Attend networking events
  • Write articles and newsletters
  • Assist with departmental and firm marketing

Trainees and Paralegals:

  • Supervise trainee solicitors and paralegals
  • Provide training to trainee solicitors and paralegals

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5-7 years PQE

• Strong interpersonal skills

• A positive 'can do' attitude

• Team player

• Previous experience in corporate and commercial practice or equivalent in-house experience

• Experience in both corporate and commercial law is preferred

• Strong commercial awareness

• Excellent organisation skills

• GDPR experience is preferred

• Strong IT knowledge

• Great attention to detail

• Ability to work autonomously and think on their feet
